Percy had been passing the entire first part of the day in his office, doing some paperwork for the Minister. He was not complaining, he loved his job. But being stuck in that office was pretty boring in the end.
Maybe it was why he left it during lunchtime. Well that plus the fact he had to go eat. But instead of staying at the ministry, he decided to leave. Anyway, he had sent the last urgent papers every ministers might need and the other could wait a little longer. Besides, with his idea, he wouldn't be away all too long...
His idea was of course to go see his wife. He knew she was working at the Magical menagerie (what kind of husband would he be not to know?) and that she was working today. And even if she was to tell him she couldn't leave the shop, it was still possible for him to buy something for the two of them and eat it together... with her hundred of magical creatures.
Quite determined to do that, he left the ministry and apparate to Diagon Alley. Right after he understood where exactly he was, he headed down to the Magical Menagerie. He entered, hearing immediately the meowing, and barking and all the different noises all of the creatures were making. He looked around to find his wife.

Audrey hated having to work on the busy days like today. Every parent it seemed was trying to get a pet for their child before the school year started. It had always been like this and you would think that Audrey would get use to it but she never could. It always seemed different.
For the time being though, Audrey was in the back room, digging through some bags of pet food. She needed to find a toy that this stupid guy wanted. They only had one left of the toy and Audrey had no clue where it was. She didn't stock shelves today so she wasn't sure where it was.
After finally finding it though, Audrey walked back to the front of the store and gave it to the guy then rang him up, taking his money and watching as he left. It wasn't long before a little girl walked in. Audrey smiled and walked over to her, kneeling in front of her. "Hi sweetie, what's your name?" she asked, smiling at the little girl. "Tracie" said the little girl. "Well Tracie what are you looking for today?" asked Audrey, waving her hand around the store. "Kitty!" shouted the little girl in a hyper voice, running over towards where they kept the kittens.
Audrey laughed softly and followed her, picking her up and putting her on the counter next to the cage so she could look better. "You watch them and decide which one you want. I'll be right back" she said noticing an old woman walking in with quite a few bags. Audrey asked what the woman needed and was told in a snappy voice that she needed five bags of cat food, three bags of dog food, and three cages.
Sighing softly, Audrey walked into the bag and brought out everything, one at a time. She had just started bringing out the last bag of dog food and was heading back for the cages when she saw Percy walk in. A smile formed on her lips as she wiped the sweat from her forehead and went into the back room, bringing out the three cages at once and ringing the woman up, watching as she left. "Hey hun" she said once Percy was by the counter.

Percy moved out of the way to let the old woman leave. he held her the door but she seemed not thankful, more like if he was pretentious to dare think she wasn't able to do that herself. He shook his head once the old lady left and his smile returned when his eyes landed on Audrey.
He walked to the counter where a little girl was sitting looking at the different kittens. He pecked Audrey's lips in the little girl's back, saying a soft hello in the same time.
He leaned against the counter, looking at the kittens as well. "I guess you can't really skip the job right now?" he said, talking to Audrey of course. He looked at his wife. She was probably as hungry as he was considering they took their breakfast together before they left for work. "Want me to pick you something?" he asked, standing properly. He had guessed it would be what would happen.

Audrey looked at him as he mentioned lunch, causing her stomach to growl on its own accord. She looked at him then at the little girl. "She'll only take a few more minutes I'm sure then we can go somewhere" she said with a grin, leaning against the counter.
It wasn't long before the little girl made her choice on a small black kitten with white paws. Audrey smiled at her and rang up the cost, taking the money from her. She watched as she ran out the door then looked at Percy. "Ready to go?" she asked, hoping onto the counter and flipping over it, stepping onto the floor next to him.
She knew flipping over the counter like that wasn't good for someone her age but she didn't care. She didn't even look her age, in fact she looked years younger than she really was. "I'm starved" she said pecking him on the lips gently.

Percy thought the little girl would never choose. He knew despite what Audrey had said that she would be taking her time. Youngsters were always taking their times. And for an animal, why would it change? But finally she chose one, a cute little black kitten with white paws. He smiled softly at the girl as she left and returned his attention on Audrey.
Percy chuckled at the scene and nodded, opening the door for her and waiting for her to put a 'be right back' sign. He ahd shaken his head at her little jump over the counter. Always the carefree type. A trait he in fact loved in her, but made him also wonder sometimes how come she chose him out of the lines of guys wanting to be with her. Maybe he was overexaggerating the line, but she was a very beatiful woman at the time, and still was now.
"And where shall we go?" he asked now that they were outside of the store.

Audrey shrugged at his question about where they should go. She had no idea nor did she truly care as to where they were going. Audrey slipped her hand into his after putting up the sign, looking around Diagon Alley for somewhere to go. She still had no idea, even after looking at all of the different cafe's to eat at.
"Its your choice" she said, laying her head against his arm. Even if she was still young and agile for age, well agile enough to jump over a counter, Audrey still got tired easily. The one sign that she was getting old and quickly. "Just choose somewhere quickly. I'm starving" she said with a grin, pecking him on the cheek gently.

Percy looked around the different cafes. He knew a few that were good but were maybe not of her taste in food. And she wanted him to choose. Hopefully she wasn't minding too much if it wasn't always perfectly what she could ahve wanted when he was choosing. It was jsut so annoying when someone was telling you to choose just to complain about it.
He smiled feeling her lips on his cheek. "What about that one?" he asked, pointing the hand she wasn't holding in direction of a small cafe down the street. One they were actually going to while they were younger and he was still courting her to have her.
He knew she liked the food there, and it wasn't the all-sophisticated place, one of those cafes where the people working there were looking high on you. No there, they were smiling. And it was relatively fast to get served and wasn,t all too expensive for a very good food. So in the end, perfect. He just waited on her opinion on that before going.

Audrey looked at the cafe he was pointing at, recognizing it as the one that were going to back when they were younger. She smiled and nodded her head, leading him towards the cafe.
"I remember this place. Its where you took me on our first date back when you were asking me out and everything" she said with a soft laugh, looking up at him then back down at the path. It seemed so long ago that they had first started dating and now they had two children together. Two beautiful children.
"Everything has gone by so fast" she said softly, laying her head against his arm.

Percy didn't need to nod or to say anything. He knew she would recognize the place. She was good at remembering even the smallest detail. So where they went on their first date...
He smiled as she said time passed quickly. He looked down at her. Yes it had. How long has it been since that first date, twenty years? And now they were married, with children. Two beautiful girls. Twenty years... time raally passed on quickly.
He entered the cafe with Audrey to immediately be taken care by a waitress, who placed them at a table and gave them menus. he looked around. The place didn,t change all that much, maybe it had a more modern look...

Audrey smiled at the waitress who sat them and proceed to read over the menu, wondering what to get. Everything on the menu sounded the same as it was before and after looking around the place looked exactly the same as before, maybe with a few touch ups here and there.
Just the thought of it barely changing made Audrey smile. She couldn't believe that after practically twenty years this place hadn't changed one bit. "I have no idea what to get" she said looking over the menu. Her stomach growled softly, making her sigh softly. She scanned the menu again until she found the very thing she had eaten on their first date. A plate of lasagna with some French bread. She smiled and put her menu down then sat back in her seat, waiting for Percy to make his choice.

He noticed that almost right after she said she didn,t know what to get, she placed the menu down on the table, meaning she had found out. It made him smile. For someone with no idea what to choose, she chose quite fast.
He hesitated a moment but finally went for some chicken breast and rice, placing the menu on the table just like her. Not too long after, a waitress, the same as before, came with water for them and took their order, leaving to the kitchen to have it prepared, leaving with the menus of course.
Percy served Audrey a glass of water before doing the same to him. "You remembered that I spilled water on your dress the first time?" he said with a smile. He had turned bright red and apologized probably a million of times when it happened. And all she found to do was to smile and say it was alright, and - just to make him blush even more - that it was cute to see him blushing like that. At least she took it with humor, he had been so ashamed of himself for it.

Audrey looked up at the waitress as she came and took their orders, leaving to have them prepared for them. Audrey smiled at the waitress then looked over at Percy as he poured her some water then himself. "I remember that. I can't believe how many times you apologized that night before actually believing me that it was alright" she said with a soft laugh, smiling at him. "You blushed so much I thought your face was going to match your hair soon" she continued, smiling at him.
Sure she was laughing about it now but only because she found it funny now and not to hurt his feelings. She would never want to do that. She loved him too much to go and hurt his feelings like that. "That was quite a night" she said taking a sip of her water.

He chuckled softly and knew he was just blushing now. Probably not as red as he had been that night, but still blushing lightly.
He remembered that he was certain she wouldn't want to go on with the date, and even less have another one after that incident. And every time he was opening his mouth, he was sure she was finding him boring. How much work has it been for him to not talk of his work, at least not too much. But surprisingly, she loved the date and when he understood it, he became more relaxed and the night just turned to keep better and better.
Finally, the meal arrived. Percy thanked the girl. He didn't notice Audrey took exactly what she took the time of their first date. If he recalled the restaurant, the incident, his memory wasn't good enough to tell what she took.
"By the way..." he began to say before eating and so stopping to talk until he swallowed his bite. "The Minister of magic wanted to know if you will come with me at the little party given next weekend. I would prefer not to go but he insisted..." he said.
Now that he was older, Percy wasn't as overconscientious as he was in his youth. He left it to the younger ones. And so attending some most probably snobbish party where everyone talk in whispers and the music is classical. There is almost no dance. The best place to go ask a promotion, but Percy didn't need of any and knew no little youngsters would take his place unless he retires, which was not about to come.
